What sums up the Show?
Retired Janis Barlow drives around the county delivering books to those in rural communities. Lonely and needing a project, she takes it upon herself to not only deliver books but to help her community and herself find contentment in life.
Janis Barlow is the book volunteer for the local community library – since the cuts, since she was 'retired' from the hair salon. She has tried different ways to keep herself busy (synchronised swimming, meditation) but to little avail. So, she grabs her rollers, her crystals and her basket of books and starts out on her quest to transform the lives in her community, popping round the county in her Smart car delivering to people who can't get to the library. And slowly she starts to realise that it is she who is lonely, and that doing good does you good too.
A hilarious new comedy-drama with a heart of gold looking rural isolation right in the eye, leaving audiences in tears of joy and sadness.
'You'll laugh and cry with Janis as you watch her exploring her new passion. 'the audience feel as though they are just listening to a conversation from this bubbly, funny, but sad dreamer - a very likeable character with whom you want to spend your time' Robbie Carnegie, Buxton Fringe Review
