REVISED OPENING TIMES
---------------------------------

Enderby Community Library's Service on a Saturday will alter from 10am-2pm to the revised time of 10am-1pm from the 3rd August 2019.
The regular times of Monday-Friday, 2pm-6pm will remain.
Visitor counts undertaken had identified that the service is not utilised between the hours of 1pm and 2pm and so a reduction in Service Hours has been approved by Enderby Parish Council in conjunction with discussion with Enderby Library Management Committee and Volunteers. Leicestershire County Council has confirmed that the revised hours will take effect from the 3rd August 2019.
This reduction in service is disappointing to the Parish Council, however it has been increasingly difficult to find Saturday volunteer support despite advertising for new recruits in the Parish Newsletter, banner advertising, website publicity and Facebook and Twitter advertising.
Please could you all make a note of this revised time.

ENDERBY LIBRARY CREATIVE WRITING GROUP

They say that everyone has a novel in them – or a poem or a short story – or just enjoy playing with words - if you need some help getting started do feel free to come and give it a try.

The group meets in the library on the last Saturday of each month, from 10.30 to 12.00. It's £1 to include tea or coffee and is open to everyone - 12+

This piece was written by one of our members and is intended to tease – perhaps you can suggest a good ending?

The crowd in the cemetery looked sad but how many had real regrets?

At the interment, although popular with his henchmen, the man had no real friends; basically he was a crook bordering on the underworld, so it was almost a reprieve when handfuls of soil were thrown onto the coffin.

Most of the mourners felt relief and were thinking of the wake to follow, the more relaxed conversation. A character assassination would not be necessary. Everyone had a little grudge against the deceased; each grudge had never been forgotten, had increased with time and now had been buried with the body.

There was one mourner who stood aloof from the group, an impeccably dressed young woman, completely unknown to the rest.

Could she be a wife? A mistress? Or a daughter from an early indiscretion?

What do you think? Who was the mysterious young lady?

Can you provide an explanation?

Enderby Community Library Went 'Live' Tuesday, 3rd May 2016 at 2pm

On Monday, 25th April 2016, Enderby Library transferred from Leicestershire County Council to Enderby Parish Council.

The new service, managed by Enderby Library Management Committee, consists of Community Volunteers and Members of Enderby Parish Council.

Opening Hours, 2pm- 6pm, Monday - Saturday

Following public consultation in March 2015, a decision was taken to extend the Library service and revised opening times commenced Tuesday, 3rd May 2016.

Saturday opening hours will change from 2pm-6pm to 10am-2pm from the 7th January 2017

Reconfiguration of Library Space

Enderby Library Management Committee (ELMC) has been working hard behind the scenes to ensure the future success of this service.

Reconfiguration of the Library commenced 25th April 2016, which included the installation of a disabled public access toilet facility and the creation of a meeting room. Lighting has also been upgraded, the roof space has been insulated and the building was reglazed at the beginning of May to help reduce running costs long term.

Volunteer Commitment

Approximately 40 volunteers came forward to receive training, overseen by Leicestershire County Council, in readiness for the transition. This number has since risen to 62 volunteers.

Volunteering at Enderby Community Library

Volunteer commitment has been exceptional, but to ensure the service is continued, recruitment will be ongoing and training of new volunteers will be phased.

Anyone interested in volunteering may obtain an application form from Enderby Community Library or make enquiries via the Parish Office.
